The Strangest Street Names in Victoria

Victoria’s got a lot of charm and a lot of weird street names. Some are funny, some sound like pranks, and some are just plain bizarre. Here are some of the strangest ones we’ve found across the state.

 The Funniest & Most Unusual

  • Mount Buggery Road (King Valley)
Yes, it’s real. Yes, hikers take a photo with the sign every time.
  • Zig Zag Road (Elphinstone)
A twisting country drive that lives up to its name.
  • Looney Avenue (Woodend)
A calm suburban street… with an unhinged name.
  • Kiss Me Quick Road (Heywood)
No one seems to know how it got this name, but it’s stuck for over a century.
  • Up There Cazaly Street (Willowmavin)
A nod to Aussie rules football and one of the most iconic sporting catchphrases ever.

 Honorable Mentions

  • Whipstick Road (Bendigo)
Named after the Whipstick Forest but still, what a name.
  • Nowhere Creek Road (Mount Beckworth)
Where are you going? Apparently… nowhere.
  • Frying Pan Lane (Daylesford)
And it connects to Bacon Street no joke.
  • Do Nothing Gully (Mallacoota)
    Appropriately sleepy.
  • Speed (North-West Vic)
A whole town, not just a street Speed is known for its “Welcome to Speed” photo ops.

Street signs get stolen more than you’d think. And councils have had to cement some signs into the ground because locals (and tourists) love nicking them for their sheds.
